Services
Counselling, Coaching, and Support Services for Families and Communities
I offer a range of services to support individuals, parents, and churches through faith-based counselling, coaching, and practical guidance. Whether you’re seeking personal counselling, parenting support, or church consulting, each service is designed to meet your unique needs.
Coaching for Parents of Neurodivergent Children
Parents of neurodivergent children—specifically those with Autism, ADHD, and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)—often face challenges in managing and supporting their children in terms of appropriate behaviours, and navigating change through different phases of life. To assist parents, a hybrid approach of counselling and coaching is utilised, depending on the individual needs of the parents and family dynamics. It is important to first support the parent so that they, in turn, are able to support and guide their child. The counselling dynamic guides the parents through their own needs and supports, while the coaching dynamic assists them in developing strategies and techniques to assist the child.
Note: Coaching takes place online.
Wellness Counselling
Wellness counselling offers a safe space for clients to explore feelings, experiences, and challenges that they are facing. It is supported by a holistic view that recognises the role that external factors such as diet, sleep habits, and exercise play in good mental health. This is not a space where diagnosis is made or comes into being, in keeping with the nature of the wellness paradigm.
Note: Sessions take place online.
Christian Counselling
Christian counselling takes on a focus of growing in Christ and supporting a client’s needs from a faith-based perspective. The process helps the client find their value and worth in Christ and encourages them to use biblical supports to redefine situations and responses to support personal development. The client works to identify God’s purpose and desires for their lives. This also helps them strive to achieve overcoming obstacles facing them that are hindering them in reaching God’s purpose.
Note: Christian counselling takes place online.
Consulting for Churches
Practical input and guidance for churches on ways to improve their services and ministries in order to achieve an environment that supports and embraces autistic people and those with other disabilities. Assessments take place at the church, in consultation with relevant role players and through observation of the services and ministries being assessed.
Note: This service is currently only offered in Cape Town and surrounds.
Support Groups for NPOs and Schools
Supporting parents with children with autism and other disabilities is not always possible on a one-to-one basis, and the benefits of a support group can be just as effective. I offer the opportunity to work with NPOs and schools to host support groups at their venues as part of their services to parents and communities. In support group sessions, we discuss specific topics relevant to the group attending, as well as open support discussions. These groups run according to the needs of the organisation.
Note: Support groups are run in-person.
